Phase 1 Development
Phase 1 of Gateway development began on 5 July 2019, with the launch of the procurement process for the Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Please note that our delivery partners for the MVP have now been appointed. We expect the MVP to be live in early 2020.
The MVP is comprised of two main parts:
- The Gateway Portal – MVP, requiring design and development of the front-end user experience, allowing researchers and innovators to easily search and identify relevant datasets. Procurement for development and design of the portal is hosted by Government Digital Service’s Digital Marketplace.

- A Metadata Catalogue, which will provide the underlying functionality to support the Gateway portal, and which will be developed through a separate process. This will be a web-hosted backend application providing all the functionality to manage the metadata for the datasets discoverable through the portal.Download the Metadata Catalogue specification
