Access to health data is fundamental to the realisation of our mission to unite the UK’s health data to enable discoveries that improve people’s lives. We do this by uniting, improving, and using health and care data as one national institute.
Health Data Research Innovation Gateway
The Health Data Research Innovation Gateway (the ‘Gateway’) portal provides a common entry point for researchers and innovators to discover and request access to UK health datasets for vital research, helping to enable discoveries that improve people’s lives.
The UK Health Data Research Alliance (the ‘Alliance’) is an independent alliance of leading healthcare and research organisations united to establish best practice for the ethical use of UK health data for research at scale.
The UK trusted and connected Data and Analytics Research Environments programme (DARE UK) aims to design and deliver a national data research infrastructure that is joined-up, demonstrates trustworthiness and supports health research at scale and for the wider public good.
We are committed to enabling the trustworthy use of health data for research. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we have championed and led the use of Trusted Research Environments (also known as TREs, Secure Data Environments and other similar descriptions) to enable crucial research to support the response across all four nations.
