Helping with Health Data
Find out how we can help you to move forward with health data that you already have and our focus on helping to improve the quality of health data to allow for further insights.
As part of our mission to unite the UK’s health data to enable discoveries that improve people’s lives, one of the key strategic areas is to improve this data to allow for even greater insight.
Research from the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industries and Medicines Discovery Catapult highlights quality of data as one of the top barriers to health data research.
Our Health Data Research Hubs (the ‘Hubs’) – supported by the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund – have an explicit mandate to improve the data as part of the work they are doing to support innovation. This work includes mapping to data standards, curating the data to remove duplicates, annotating images and linking to other datasets. This work is also taking place as part of the British Heart Foundation Data Science Centre.
Our Health Data Research Hubs
Our centres of excellence can provide expertise, tools, knowledge and ways of working to maximise insights and innovations.
BHF Data Science Centre
Promoting the safe and ethical use of data for research into the causes, prevention and treatment of all diseases of the heart and circulation.
Data Standards
We’re working with our colleagues across the HDR UK community and with our partners to establish and implement common standards for the quality of data used in research.
Data Utility Evaluation
We have developed a sophisticated tool to help researchers and innovators quickly and accurately access the datasets they need
Synthetic Data
We are working with the research community to understand the current UK Health Data landscape on synthetic data activity.
