Currently, Director of Digital Transformation for NHS England, London. A strategic leader with considerable experience of leading collaborative change at the system and institutional level and at the NHS and academic/NHS and public interfaces. Established and leads the OneLondon programme, which includes record sharing at the point of care and the development of collaborative approaches in the use of data at scale for health improvement in near real time and for research uses.
A practising radiographer for the first part of my career, moving on to general management roles and subsequently to informatics for the last 25 years. I was fortunate to be a clinician during the introduction of some of the early imaging modalities that used digital technology such as computerised tomography, and beyond that to be involved in computerisation of radiology departments early in my health service career. What has been clear throughout my career and never more than now is the power of information to support patients & professionals to improve care. We are at a pivotal moment in history to be able to witness and influence this digital transformation in health & care. It is therefore more important than ever that we act collectively with the public to drive through the changes needed.
