Bill was a highly valued trustee at HDR UK for a number of years before stepping down in 2026. In the same year, he was invited to act as an Honorary Fellow in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Institute.
Outside of HDR UK, Bill is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He established and was principal of his own practice regulated by the ICAEW before his retirement 3 years ago.
Bill worked for the NHS for over 30 years and was Chief Finance Officer of Barts Health Group, Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children NHS Foundation Trust amongst others.
Bill is a Non-Executive Director of Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust where he chairs the Finance and Operations Committee and the Hospitals Charity Committee, and is a member of the Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee.
Bill is a Non-Executive Director of the South West Health Innovation Network where he chairs the Finance, Audit, and Risk Committee and is a member of the People Committee. He is a founding trustee of the National Centre for Creative Health, where he chairs the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
Bill continues to work as an Associate Expert Advisor to the Public Sector Consultancy (The PSC) on a part time basis, continuing his work with the NHS.
