The University of Birmingham is part of the HDR UK Midlands site. Positioned adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, part of University Hospital Birmingham, it is linked to the Better Care programme and the PIONEER and INSIGHT Research Hubs.

Cambridge leads the HDR UK Cambridge substantive site. It heads the National Multi-omics Consortium and a partner on the Gut Reaction research hub with Cambridge University Hospitals.

Edinburgh is part of the HDR UK Scotland substantive site. It leads the BREATHE research hub to enable high quality research and cutting-edge innovation to improve the lives of people living with respiratory conditions.

UCL is part of the HDR UK London substantive site. As part of UCL Partners, it leads the DATA-CAN research hub and is heading up the National Phenomics Resource project.

Manchester is part of the HDR UK North substantive site. It has led Smart Hearts Sprint Exemplar project and antibiotic prescribing in frail elderly people as part of the Better Care programme.
