Project Manager for the Data Curation Skills for Sensitive Data project at Health Data Research UK (HDR UK)
Dr. Susmita Datta joined HDR UK as a Project Manager leading the Data Curation Skills for Sensitive Data project in March 2025. Additionally, she manages a Global Health Project at University College London (UCL) focused on improving health outcomes for children. She is an experienced research and project manager with a strong background in overseeing large-scale international projects, securing research funding, and fostering collaboration across institutions.
Susmita has extensive experience in research management, particularly in the biomedical sciences and European Union-funded projects. She has worked at institutions such as the University of Oxford, University of Kent, UCL Genetics Institute, and the University of East London, where she played a key role in supporting research strategy, funding applications, and international partnerships.
Holding a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Genetics of Schizophrenia from University College London and a Master of Science (MSc) in Human Molecular Genetics from Imperial College London, she combines her scientific expertise with strategic project management skills.
Outside of work, Susmita enjoys travelling, exploring cultural and historical sites, and photography. She is passionate about initiatives that promote equitable access to research resources and global collaboration in science and healthcare.
