Professor Sinead Langan is a Wellcome Senior Clinical Fellow and Professor of Clinical Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). Sinead is an Associate Director for HDR-UK London, leading on behalf of LSHTM. She also works as an honorary consultant dermatologist at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital London.

Sinead trained in Medicine at the Queen’s University of Belfast, completed her PhD at the University of Nottingham and gained post-doctoral experience at the University of Pennsylvania, USA.

Sinead led a large collaborative international programme of work using the power of electronic medical record and administrative data to provide answers for important research questions related to a range of skin diseases. She has also led programmes focusing on understanding gene-environment interactions in eczema and is contributing to programmes on stratified medicine in eczema. Sinead is co-founder and co-Chair of the Reporting of studies Conducted using Observational Routinely collected Data (RECORD) initiative and has a range of active local, national and international collaborative projects using data from Denmark, Norway and the USA.
