Rohan is an MSc health data science student at UCL. On this one-year full time master’s course, he is learning data science methods for application in both industry and research. His passion is to use health data to improve patient outcomes.
Following this, he strongly aligns with Health Data Research’s (HDR) UK’s mission to develop health data infrastructure in the UK alongside the NHS. Other interests also include health-tech innovation, particularly in areas such as deep learning for genomics and wearables.
Rohan’s background is in the life sciences. He studied a BSc in biology with anatomy at the University of Manchester. He does volunteer work in his area of interest, including as a research intern at the University of Dundee and a data engineer at the Family Counselling Trust charity.
At the University of Dundee (placement year), he volunteered to develop anatomical models for medical stent applications in peripheral arterial disease. At the Family Counselling Trust, he used several Microsoft platforms (e.g. PowerApps) to optimise front- and back-end data management. As a result of his work, he saved each practitioner and charity staff member 2+ hours a day.
