Muffy Calder has been Vice-Principal and Head of College of Science and Engineering, University of Glasgow since 2015, previously she was the Chief Scientific Adviser for Scotland. She is a computer scientist with research interests in modelling and automated reasoning for complex, sensor-driven systems, and privacy and national security. She is a Senior Visiting Fellow at CETaS (Centre for Emerging Technology and Security) has been a member of the Prime Minister’s Council for Science and Technology, deputy chair of REF main panel B, member of UKRI-EPSRC council, a Royal Society Leverhulme Research Senior Fellow, and a Suffrage Science award winner in Computing Science and Mathematics.
In late 2024 Muffy was selected to be among the first Honorary Fellows of HDR UK, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the Institute.
