Peter joined HDR UK in June 2024 as Deputy Chief Technology Officer, before taking up the role of Interim Chief Technology Officer in April 2026. Peter’s role is focused on convening the technology ecosystem and embedding a collaborative approach to data infrastructure that promotes open science and interoperability. 

Peter came to HDR UK after almost a decade at the EMBL-European Bioinformatics Institute, where he led the Genome Analysis team on large collaborative research data projects, such as the European Nucleotide Archive, Ensembl Genome Browser, and COVID-19 Data Portal.  Peter previously held research positions at University College London and Oxford University, working on genomics and transcriptome evolution.
