My career started at the University of Edinburgh, where I trained in medicine. During my time there, my interest in epidemiology and global health started via an internship at the World Health Organization. I have subsequently trained in internal medicine, and now I am starting my respiratory medicine specialisation.

It is through my clinical training that I have seen epidemiological issues on a daily basis. Particularly, we are seeing a rise in asthma and other respiratory diseases that affect our population, and result in illness and attendances to hospital. Equally, our world is now facing climate change, and we do not know how this affects our lung health, and how we can begin to tackle this.

I am grateful to HDR UK for giving me the opportunity to study my MSc in Epidemiology. This masters will give me the necessary statistical skills and knowledge to start looking at the complex interplay between our lungs and our evolving environment; I am very much looking forward to the coming years.
