Mary Ogbuka is a PhD candidate in computing at Imperial College London, where her research explores multimodal AI systems for human-centred applications. Her current focus is on humour styles recognition and its connection to mental health, using machine learning to analyse how humour relates to emotional well-being.

Mary Ogbuka holds a master’s in computer science from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, and has published in areas including biometric security and computational humour. This summer, she is excited to join the UK DRI at Imperial through the HDR UK Internship Programme, where she will explore the relationship between pain and Parkinson’s disease. She is passionate about applying AI to healthcare challenges, and looks forward to expanding her skills in multimodal data integration and contributing to research that enhances understanding of neurodegenerative conditions and mental health.
