Joan is a great supporter of the NHS and always believed patients / carers should have a voice, be listened to and be agents for change.

She had a long, enjoyable and hardworking career in management in the NHS in Primary and Secondary care, introducing many new initiatives, including clinical audit, integrated care pathways and clinical governance.  Joan retired as Clinical Governance Manager for a large Trust in the North West and as part of a team developing Out of Hours services.

Since retirement, Joan enjoys holidays, walking her dog, she is secretary for local fundraising group for Marie Curie and I review research proposals for University of Southampton.   Joan obtained a BA Hons in Humanities and Literature from the OU and am currently trying to learn Spanish, so much so she is now perfectly at ease ordering a cheese sandwich and a glass of wine.
