Iain Buchan brings experience of leading impactful research across the public health, clinical and data science aspects of the Better Care Partnership. He led foundational work in learning health systems and adaptive clinical prediction. He was a founding Director of the Farr Institute’s Health e-Research Centre contributing to HDR UK, including advances in clinical prediction methodology, public health intelligence and publicly trusted data governance including the #datasaveslives campaign. He conceived the Connected Health Cities programme that has delivered substantial impacts across Northern England. He founded one of the UK’s largest, multidisciplinary health informatics and data sciences research groups at Manchester. He now leads Liverpool’s Institute of Population Health and is Director of Digital Partnerships and Strategy for Liverpool Health Partners (12 NHS, 7 local government and 4 higher education organisations).
