Dr Giorgia Garbato is a PhD student in Child Health at the University of Liverpool. She is a Paediatric Resident Doctor with a clinical interest in paediatric respiratory medicine, based at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Giorgia’s PhD project aims to define distinct phenotypes of preterm lung disease – particularly severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) – using data from multiple UK cohorts. By identifying clinically meaningful subgroups of infants with BPD, her work seeks to move towards more personalised approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and management of preterm lung disease.
