Gerrit Meijer is a professor of pathology with a special interest in translational cancer research and biomarker development towards implementation. Next to being an active cancer researcher and group- and section leader at the Netherlands Cancer Institute, for many years he has been active in developing and leading (inter)national research infrastructures for biobanking and data, including TraIT, Health-RI, BBMRI, EATRIS, and AACR GENIE. Much of these initiatives have converged under the umbrella of Health-RI, the Dutch national health data infrastructure for research, innovation and policy making, of which Gerrit Meijer is currently the chief science officer.
