Ester Bellavia joined Health Data Research UK in August 2022. In her role, she supports the delivery of the organisation’s strategy for involving and engaging patients and the public in health data science. Ester completed a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) programme at Newcastle University, leading a research project funded by the Alzheimer’s Society. The project focused on how best to promote the involvement and engagement of patients and the public in dementia research.

Her academic background also includes a Master’s Degree in Health Research Methods from the University of Nottingham, funded by the National Institute for Health and Social Care Research. Ester earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Catania and has previously worked full-time for the National Health Service as a registered nurse.
