Efia is third year undergraduate at King’s College London studying for a global health and social medicine BSc. She is a director at Jasper Women’s Health Organisation, a non-profit dedicated to improving access to women’s health. The organisation runs several initiatives across schools in Ghana such as a Consent Drive, Menstrual Health Education projects and a ‘Safe & Savvy’ project, with the aim of improving adolescent sexual and reproductive health. At King’s she is an undergraduate research fellow where she uses creative arts-based research methods to explore how disabled girls in Zimbabwe view themselves as knowledge holders, especially in the context where parents or guardians often speak on their behalf. She has worked with her supervisors at King’s in partnership with a consortium of organisations including Rozaria Memorial Trust and Deaf Zimbabwe Trust. She will be presenting this research at the International Child and Family Conference in June, 2025.

Efia also serves as network lead for the Disabled Students Network at King’s, and has been a National Union of Students delegate. She co-runs Adjust KCL, a campaign supporting disabled students at King’s. Currently, Efia engages with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Youth Affairs and is involved in co-research and co-production at Disability Rights UK and King’s College London.

This summer, she will be interning with Health Data Research UK and Suffolk County Council on a research project she proposed, examining inequalities in the diagnostic and treatment pathways for pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) in young women using electronic patient records.
