Dr. Daniel Weiand

Consultant Medical Microbiologist at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

My name is Dr. Daniel Weiand MBChB FRCPath RCPathME MClinEd MBCS PGCertClinicalDataScience and I work as a Consultant Medical Microbiologist at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I joined NUTH as a Consultant in 2015 with special interests in nephrology, urology, solid organ transplantation, vascular surgery, medical education, clinical informatics, and quality improvement. I trained in Aberdeen, Sheffield, York, Hull and Leeds before moving to the North East. My additional roles include Clinical Informatics Lead for Clinical and Diagnostic Services at NUTH, Associate Clinical Lecturer at Newcastle University, Examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists, "Q" fellow at The Health Foundation, Member of The British Computer Society, and Member of the Data Access Committee for the NENC Secure Data Environment. In 2025, I was awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Data Science by the University of Manchester.
