Dr Davies has co-led a highly successful set of workshopson health information engineering for HDR UK.

He has a background in computer science and nursing and has worked previously in interventional cardiology and subsequently authored several medical text books on electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation.

Dr Davies has also been a software engineer/app developer in industry.

He completed a PhD in Computer Science using eye-tracking and computational techniques to examine how practitioners interpret ECGs. Subsequently he worked at the University of Manchester as a Data Scientist/Research Software Engineer before becoming a lecturer of Health Data Science in the Faculty of Biology Medicine and Health.

His research interests include the application of technology to healthcare and health related mobile application interventions. Dr Davies is currently the programme director for the Clinical Data Science programme which is currently in development.
