Colin Godbold had a long career in the IT consulting industry, delivering major technology-based change programmes in the private and public sectors. He now works part-time as a programme management consultant alongside a portfolio of other roles. Colin has been active in NHS PPIE (Patient & Public Involvement and Engagement) since 2014, contributing with the South Central Ambulance Service, National Institute for Health Research, Oxford University Academic Health Science Network and his local NHS in the Thames Valley.

From his IT background, Colin has a particular interest in the responsible use of data for the public good and he believes strongly in the potential to improve health outcomes by using data to support research. For the UK Statistics Authority he is a member of the National Statistician’s Data Ethics Advisory Committee and was previously a board member for the Administrative Data Research Network. He is also a lay representative for two projects which are developing the NHS Shared Care Record and the NHS Secure Data Environment in the Thames Valley and Surrey area.
