Chiagoziem is a third year MBChB medical student at Aston University with a strong interest in health data science, medical technology, and how thoughtfully designed tools can improve clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.

This summer he is joining the University of Nottingham’s Health Informatics team to work on improving an AI tool that interprets medical language — an area that brings together my interests in research, evidence-based medicine, and digital health innovation.

Alongside Chiagoziem’s studies, he has co-authored a systematic review and meta-analysis on robotic versus laparoscopic surgery, published in the British Journal of Surgery, and is a HealthTech Foundations Scholar. Chiagoziem is also a mentor for aspiring medical students.

Through this scholarship, Chiagoziem is hoping to gain hands-on experience with real health data and research software, and to better understand how data science translates into meaningful clinical impact.
