Charlie started with Health Data Research UK in January 2025 to support the delivery, integration and impact of the Research Driver Programme.
Charlie has a background in data science, with a Masters in Information Science from City University London, and a PhD in the design of structured vocabularies for genetic data. He has a Masters by Research in the Life Sciences from the University of Edinburgh, and spent several years investigating viral vectors for gene therapy in cardiovascular disease.
He has worked in the pharmaceutical industry, NHS Commissioning, and primary care services in Scotland. Previous to joining HDR UK, Charlie managed the West of Scotland Safe Haven at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, leading a team delivering anonymized patient data for research projects.
