Angela is a Research Fellow in Epidemiology at the Small Area Health Statistics Unit, Imperial College London. Her research examines how social and environmental factors influence health across the life course, with a particular focus on respiratory and brain health, and the role of the microbiome and immune response. She also has interests in improving data accessibility through the FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable) principles, cross‑cohort analysis, and federated data analytics. Angela is a member of the DataSHIELD steering committee and co‑leads its Communication and Outreach theme.

Within the Social and Environmental Determinants of Health Driver Programme, Angela is using Office for National Statistics mortality data and multivariate and multinomial Bayesian spatio‑temporal methods to jointly model causes of death in older adults and people with dementia. This work aims to improve understanding of geographic and socioeconomic trends while accounting for competing risks, insights that will help identify where inequalities are greatest and uncover potential shared biological, environmental, and social pathways, informing better-targeted care and end-of-life support. She is also collaborating with Dr Pascal Geldsetzer from Stanford University on a study examining the effect of shingles vaccination on dementia and its potential impact on inequalities in dementia.
