Amanda Darekar

Statistics Lead, Global Biometrics and Data Management

Amanda received her MSc in Statistics with Applications in Medicine from the University of Southampton and her BSc (Hons) in Statistics from the University of Reading and has nearly 25 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry. She started her career at Quintiles (now IQVIA) in 1997, supporting a wide range of clients and projects, and in 2002, Amanda joined Pharmacia, a mid-size pharmaceutical company. Amanda moved to Pfizer after its acquisition of Pharmacia in 2003 and since then Amanda has supported a wide range of projects spanning many therapeutic areas and phases, including a year-long secondment to Pfizer India in 2007 to manage a statistics group in Mumbai. Once back in the UK, she returned to supporting a variety of projects within urology and cardiovascular/metabolic therapeutic areas, mostly in later phase development, and has been a key contributor to two recent approvals for the company. Amanda is currently statistical program lead for two projects within the Internal Medicine Statistics Cluster.
Amanda is also the current chair of the PSI (Statisticians in the Pharmaceutical Industry) Careers and Academic Liaison Committee (CALC), hoping to inspire the next generation of statisticians to consider a rewarding career in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
