Project Information
Alina is a PhD student in the Centre for Argument Technology at the University of Dundee, supervised by Dr. John Lawrence. She has a multidisciplinary academic background, earning Master’s degrees from Uppsala University and National Taiwan Normal University, where she applied machine learning techniques to solve real-world challenges. Her current research interests lie at the intersection of argumentation theory and data science, with a particular focus on federated systems. Alina is especially interested in how argumentation frameworks can enhance decision-making, improve information flow, and increase collaboration in distributed networks.
Title: Argumentation for Federated Analytics
Summary:
This project focuses on applying argumentation theory to improve decision-making and collaboration in systems where sensitive data cannot be fully shared due to privacy or security concerns. By structuring and analysing arguments within federated systems, the research aims to enhance the organisation and interpretation of information, enabling effective knowledge sharing while respecting privacy constraints. This work is motivated by the potential of argumentation to address complex challenges in secure data environments. It aims to contribute to ethical and efficient decision-making processes, particularly within healthcare data systems.
