Academia
The Interpretable and Beneficial AI (IBAI) is part of the Centre for Digital Innovation within the School of Computing, Engineering, and Digital Technologies at Teesside University.
In the IBAI group, we work on the application of AI across different sectors, from healthcare to biotechnology. Our research work is focused on the development of interpretable AI models to generate explainable predictions and make informed decisions. Collaborating with several partners, including local NHS Trusts (e.g., South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) and businesses (e.g., Fujifilm, Nicander, and CSX Carbon), we develop advanced AI techniques to solve sector-specific problems, providing valuable operational insights from various data sources.
During the 8-week internship, Brandon will develop a web application that integrates multimodal AI for breast cancer research, combining medical imaging, genomic data, and clinical records to support advanced diagnostic and analytical capabilities.
The final objective will be to develop a fully functional AI-based web platform for biomedical researchers and clinicians.
