Pharmacy Department – Royal United Hospitals Bath

The Pharmacy Department at the Royal United Hospitals (RUH) Bath plays a vital role in supporting patient care through the safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines. The team consists of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff who work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the system, our wards and clinics to ensure optimal medication management, patient safety, and adherence to clinical guidelines.

Project – VTE Prescribing

Our current project focuses on reviewing whether venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis is prescribed as intended when patients are admitted. The aim is to identify any gaps in compliance and support consider strategies to improve prescribing practices to reduce the risk of preventable blood clots in patients.
