Grade 8: £39,992 – £47,722 p.a. (pro rata for part-time)

The Oxford Big Data Institute (BDI) is a multi-disciplinary centre for health data research within the University of Oxford. The Nuffield Department of Population Health, a key partner in the BDI, undertakes research and trains scientists to seek answers to some of the most important questions about the causes, prevention, and treatment of disease.

We are looking for a Software Engineer/Interface Developer to support biomedical research and health data science. Working as part of a dedicated team you will develop innovative applications, coordinate and lead on specific aspects of design and implementation, and contribute to scientific discussion, publications and reports.

To be considered, you should have a good degree in a relevant discipline (such as computer science), and experience with relevant programming languages (in particular, JavaScript), together with an understanding of relevant frameworks, libraries, and formats. You should have also a demonstrable ability to lead development activities in specific areas, including collaborative development across organisations.

If no suitable Grade 8 applicant is forthcoming, an appointment at Grade 7 (£32,236 – £39,609 p.a.), with appropriate adjustment of duties and additional training, may be considered.
The position is full-time (part-time considered) and fixed-term for 2 years.
