Introducing Phase 1 Delivery Partners for the Gateway Minimum Viable Product
25 November 2019
Health Data Research UK is pleased to be able to announce all of the successful suppliers for the Phase 1 Minimum Viable Product (MVP) of the Health Data Research Innovation Gateway. The suppliers were selected following a procurement process hosted on the Government Digital Marketplace and Contracts Finder which began in July 2019.
The Gateway will be a web application to support research and innovators to discover and request access to data from members of the UK Health Data Research Alliance in a secure, ethical and responsible manner. The MVP will aim to provide a first-class user experience for the initial discovery and access request capabilities, demonstrate the user-led approach and initial functionality, and to capture further user insight to inform the second phase of the Gateway development commencing in April 2020.
The Gateway MVP is comprised of three main parts. The successful partners for each section are:
• IBM will develop the Gateway Portal – MVP, using Design Thinking approaches to bring user requirements into the design and development of the front-end user experience, which will allow researchers and innovators to search and identify relevant datasets.
• Parity and Metadataworks are undertaking the Metadata onboarding and process improvement, to support the inclusion of metadata from across the Health Data Research Alliance into the Gateway.
• NHS Digital and University of Oxford will deliver the Metadata Catalogue, which will provide the underlying functionality to support the Gateway portal. This will be a web-hosted backend application providing all the functionality to manage the metadata for the datasets discoverable through the portal.
