Peter Harrison joins HDR UK after almost a decade at the EMBL-European Bioinformatics Institute, where he led the Genome Analysis team on large collaborative research data projects, such as the European Nucleotide Archive, Ensembl Genome Browser, and COVID-19 Data Portal. Peter previously held research positions at University College London and Oxford University, working on genomics and transcriptome evolution.

Peter brings a wealth of experience in collaborating with communities to develop data infrastructure and portals that democratise, enable, and accelerate downstream discoveries. With a background in genomics, Peter is brilliantly positioned to advance our mission. He will play a leading role in standardising processes, accelerating access, and enhancing the interconnectivity of health data with health records. Peter joined HDR UK in June this year to support our Chief Technology Officer Emily Jefferson, focusing on convening the technology ecosystem and embedding a collaborative approach to data infrastructure that promotes open science and interoperability.
