The Data Lab supports Masters programmes and activities in Data Science agnostic of domain. However, in partnership with HDR UK, this is a fantastic opportunity to expand the portfolio to focus on health data science, so as to address the much needed skills in the domain.
We will look to support up to 10 studentships in 2020-21. In addition to studying for the degree, DataLab organises ‘technical’ and ‘business-ready’ skills training for all of their funded students in the form of placements in Scottish industry, a residential Innovation Challenge where students get hands-on experience working with real data to solve business problems, CV and interview skills workshops, and Data Talent Scotland, an annual networking and recruitment event for employers and students seeking roles in data science.
The call is open to all Scottish Universities who want to apply to receive £6000 per student to cover MSc course tuition fees for the academic year 2020-2021, and fulfil the following criteria:
- hosted at an HEI in Scotland;
- be ready for delivery and studentships to commence in 2020 – 2021;
- contain core disciplinary components of mathematics, statistics and technologies all applied in the health context and to health data throughout;
- demonstrate some interdisciplinary and ‘team-science’ components in their curriculum; and
- show consideration of the importance of patient and public involvement (PPI) and ethics when working with health data.
Students must be based in Scotland and from the European Union. Students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland are not eligible for funded studentships.
