Duties and Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious researcher with interests at the intersection between healthcare and artificial intelligence to join a world class university and hospital Trust. The role is devoted to developing a comprehensive, hospital-embedded framework for applying machine learning to problems of major patient impact in hospital medicine, targeting operational, clinical, and scientific objectives.

The successful applicant will operate under the auspices of UCLH’s flagship Research Hospital Initiative, whose aim is to transform the hospital by applying artificial intelligence across its entire fabric.

Applications are invited for a Senior Research Fellow to develop a comprehensive, hospital-embedded framework for applying machine learning to problems of major patient impact in hospital medicine, targeting operational, clinical, and scientific objectives.

The position will inaugurate a cross-disciplinary Machine Healthcare Intelligence Unit jointly constituted within UCL’s AI Centre and UCLH. Its overarching task will be to develop a pioneering hospital-embedded framework for complex, real-time operational modelling, and to deliver – fully implemented within UCLH operations – a suite of projects with transformational impact on hospital operations.

This post is available immediately and funded for two years in the first instance.

Key Requirements

Medical degree. Post-graduate medical qualifications. Proficiency in Python data science tools. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
