Purpose of the post and main responsibilities

  • Support delivery, integration and impact of our Research Driver Programmes. Work with UK-wide Driver Programme teams and across the Institute with HDR UK’s regional, infrastructure and partnership programmes, UK wide data providers, and other key stakeholders to support delivery of HDR UK Driver Programmes and accelerate their ambition to unlock the power of data to improve people’s lives.
  • Work closely with national and regional data providers and Trusted Research Environments/Secure Data Environments, to support the creation of scalable data foundations, by enabling access to prioritised datasets and linkages across HDR UK Driver Programmes,
  • Support onboarding of the Research Driver Programmes with the Health Data Research Innovation Gateway;g ensuring that datasets used by the Driver Programmes are ‘FAIR’, datasets are curated and mapped to Common Data Models and data uses are transparent.
  • With the Programme Director (Driver Programmes) implement systematic and consistent processes for enabling adoption and onboarding of ‘new’ Driver Programmes across the HDR UK portfolio, ensuring join up and alignment across Institute teams and the wider community.
  • Lead on project management and co-ordination of emerging projects and activities across Drivers, and wider Institute developing project plans and timelines, tracking deliverables, interdependencies and supporting alignment to activities across the Institute.
  • Contribute to ongoing Institute strategy and objectives to identify, drive and support opportunities for leveraging funding and co-leveraging opportunities across Programmes.
  • Support monitoring and measurement of delivery, impact and integration across Driver Programmes.
  • Manage activities and events to support collaborative opportunities across Driver Programmes and with wider stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the involvement of key stakeholders at appropriate stages.

General responsibilities:

  • Enable use of appropriate team communications and project management tools.
  • Support development of reference communication materials such as standard presentation and communications decks.
  • Be prepared and able to work flexibly to support colleagues as needed, adapting to an evolving environment and emerging priorities.

Experience

  • Several years’ experience of managing large scale, UK-wide health data research and/or health data infrastructure programmes, with understanding of research and innovation delivery within the public sector, academia or industry.
  • Several years’ experience of working in the health data ecosystem in the UK, with a good understanding of health data science research and infrastructure (e.g Trusted Research Environments). Good understanding of the UK NHS and of the regional and national data that arise from routine NHS activity.
  • Understanding of health data information governance, security and privacy requirements, and the practicalities of provision of, access to and use of health data for research and innovation
  • Understanding of the types of research that can be enabled by access to and advanced analysis of health data at scale.
  • Experience of understanding the needs of relevant audiences and presenting complex information to different audiences.
  • Ability to manage complex multi-stakeholder projects in parallel with similar timeframes and conflicting priorities whilst meeting deadlines.
  • Expertise in adjusting plans or strategies to break down long term strategies into component parts and set milestones.
  • Experience of navigating ambiguity, championing change and providing clarity, with the ability to bring simplicity to complex processes.
  • Experience of building collaborative teams across multiple organisations and working directly with senior managers, with humility and confidence.
  • Proactive approach and expertise in developing creative solutions to challenging problems and developing quality management approaches to continually improve delivery, including an ability to determine when problems need to be escalated.
  • Experience of financial management and an understanding of the impact of financial flows for public sector projects.
  • Knowledge of a range of project management tools and demonstrable project management experience, across complex projects.
