The first four days will include a mix of plenary lectures, short courses and discussion meetings on topics suggested by participants. These will be run as a sequence of parallel sessions, allowing each participant to pick their own programme to match their interests and requirements. The fifth day will be a Schools Engagement Event with senior pupils from two local secondary schools.
Plenary speakers include:
- Professor Mark Lawler (HDR UK and Queen’s University Belfast). Mark is Dean of Education and Professor in the Centre for Cancer research and Cell Biology
- Dr Madeleine Thomson (Columbia University, New York). Madeleine leads the Health and Climate programme at Columbia’s International Research Institute for Climate and Society
- Professor Cathie Sudlow (HDR UK and University of Edinburgh). Cathie heads the Centre for Medical Informatics and holds a personal chair in Neurology and Clinical Epidemiology
Parallel session topics will include Leadership, Patient and Public Involvement in Research, Core and Applied Data Science Skills and Machine Learning.
Capacity for the Summer School is limited to 80 participants. Participants will include HDR UK UKRI and Rutherford and Fellows, NIHR/HDR UK Incubator in Health Data Science Fellows and other early-career researchers and technology specialists in Health Data Science.
Places are available on a first come, first serve basis, and those not affiliated with UKRI, Rutherford, NIHR or HDR UK fellowships will be charged a fee covering costs to attend.
We look forward to hearing your ideas and to meeting many of you in St Andrews.
Peter Diggle, Georgina Moulton, Gabriella Rustici (HDR UK Central Training Team) and Colin McCowan (HDR UK Scotland and University of St Andrews)
